Coach Mel | Team Coach
Mel was raised in a small town on Lake Hartwell in Northeast Georgia. She spent most of her career competing at Upstate Gymnastics in South Carolina where she trained at Level 9. Mel enjoyed working hard in practice, even during strength and conditioning. Her favorite event was Vault, where she quickly became known as the Vault Queen because she never let anyone else take home the gold. After High School, Mel became a USAG Certified Judge (Level 7/8) who had the pleasure to travel all over the Southeast. In 2013, she took a small hiatus from her Gymnastics Career to pursue a graduate degree in Biological and Forensic Anthropology. Mel loved school so much she ended up moving to Columbia where she is currently a 4th year PhD Candidate interested the understanding variability in the timing and tempo of skeletal development, particularly during adolescence.
